Pamper Evening relaxation room

Hi - I am throwing a charity pamper and relax evening at University. The venue we have hired is pretty good and we have an extra floor I wanted to turn into a relaxation area, at the moment it just looks coffee shop/pub like. I was thinking of themeing it maybe, or getting those lights that shine on the roof. Does anyone have any ideas. Will table cloths help? Can you hire big poofy chairs and stuff on the cheap from somewhere? What do you think? Thanks everyone!!

bother, typed a reply and lost my connection ...

if anywhere else on campus has the poofy chairs, see if you can borrow rather than hire.

Tablecloths will only go so far, but anything to 'soften' the ambience - cushions, guazy drapes, fairy lights, and excuse my age but lava lamps have made a comeback, I believe. But think 'elf and safety: the combination of trailing leads, overloaded circuits and gauzy drapes gives some of us the heeby jeebies, although battery operated fairy lights would help. Venue may require electricals to be PA tested, especially if you find lava lamps from the 60s ...

A company like jvp.uk.com is used to making temporary 'green rooms', they might be able to help.

If the room is too big or the walls too ugly, you can use pipe and drape http://www.blackout-ltd.com/rental/easibuild_pipe_drape.html to make it more intimate/pleasant/warmer feeling
