hi all,
i have a problem where my shower is only producing cold water. The water in the taps are hot but have started to lose pressure. I have been stung by plumbers before and was wondering if anyone might have an idea what it could be.
The boiler is a potterton boiler, shower is a britton where it is built into the tiles.
There is hot water tank in one of the bedrooms and i think somesort of tank in the loft. the cold water flows fine
any help would be much appreciated

If you dont trust plumbers then you could always try the likes of british gas they cost more than a plumber but you can expect them to fix them problem and if it goes wrong they will come back and rectify it.0

If the other hot taps in the house have started to lose pressure it sounds like an air lock, simple way to clear it is by goign to a mixer tap, like a basin mixer or bath mixer, kitchen mixer wont do.
first open the mixer tap so that hot water and cold water would both normally come out, then put ur hand over the spount tightly so no water comes out and wait a few seconds for the cold water to go into the hot water pipes and push the air out, then close the cold water so only the hot is open and release ur hand, let the hot water run for a bit should come out normally now.
if this was the problem, most probably happened because your ball valve in the cold water tank in the loft is faulty and fills the tanks too slowly, so when u use the water the tank empties to the point that air gets into the pipes, so the ball valve will need to be changed0
