Getting your name on Google!!

Is there some quick and easy way of getting an item like an individual's name onto the search engines in a big way, i.e. multiple entries?

I'm aware that 'commonplaceness' plays a big part in search criteria but if we assume that the name is an unusual one..?

    What's your name?:D
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • I think the way Google works means that you need a lot of web pages pointing to the one you want to appear high on the list, so you need to get chummy with a group of webmasters.

  • Sign up to lots of web forums and reply to loads of blogs and set up loads of internet sites and sign up to loads of mailing lists and post your name multiple times on each.

Why would anyone want to do this though is beyond me. Surely anonymity is more important that being listed on google.

Change it to something ridiculous like the idiots who change their name to every one of Elvis's hits etc. and then tell the newspapers.

The same thing goes with anything get a lot of people talking about it on websites and that thing will feature high in search engines I believe.

.... and remember the more often you give these guys your email address as you sign up to forums, blogs, etc. the more chance you have of being spammed with that email. If possible, use a throwaway address that you dont mind dumping once it starts getting spammed.

Wow, I just googled the name that I use on other forums, it's very unique and I have 459 results!

Actually now that I look, it lists all of my ebay listings both as a seller and buyer and all of the different forums that I've posted on with my postings. If I bought something on ebay the seller could find out so much about me AND they'd have my address and phone number.

I feel a bit freaked out by it.

  • You can put meta data in a website and the website heading with your name that can work.
