have you taken phones in there before ??

these companies take your phone in at a price that will give them an instant profit on Mazuma etc, they log the imei of the phone against you and send off , mazuma (or one of the others) then pay out or refuse if its listed as blocked

same applies if they did a straight resale in the shop , IMEI number logged against you , they sell , customer brings back as not working after a few days , IMEI checked and listed as blocked

It could always transpire that you traded in a phone, which was then lost by the person who bought the phone and then it was blocked?

I'm not sure, seems a bit strange how they've done that.

I'm not sure what you're worried about?
As it is, a phone was traded in, sold out, and returned as blacklisted. CEX just write these off, they won't be coming after you. The only issue is that you can't use CEX's trade in service.
If you wanted to, you could ask them for more details about the phone that was supposedly blacklisted, but it'll be fairly hard to prove it wasn't you.

If CEX had found the phone was blocked when trying to trade in, then they would have called the police. I can't remember what they do for previous phones that were blocked apart from blocking the membership and the person can never trade in again.

My advice would be to ask them if you could have the IMEI and model of the phone that is blocked as you believe it to be a mistake and would like to confirm with your network what happened to the phone. I remember helping someone for a while, while he was on the phone to his network and I think in the end he found out that they had put the blocked notice on the wrong phone or something. The network then spoke to us to confirm it was a mistake and we unblocked his account.

How many phones have you traded in, in the past and have you ever phoned your network to report a lost phone?
