  • "no higher than" would probably more precise than "lower" : in the case that the price doesn't change month to month, you would be equal to the average. And of course you need to be clear about which of the many possible averages you mean.

    Frankly I think probably all of these things are out of date. A lot of theories and widely held beliefs are based on a market that no longer exists. I'm not even convinced by buy and hold anymore. It's certainly better than dipping in and out but it needs new caveats imo. It all depends on you.

    As for what's the best this and that - a lot depend on your requirements, knowledge, bankroll. Stock tips should always be ignored imo, even by analysts, newspapers, specialist magazines, but especially by forums. DYOR!
  • A tip is good wherever its stated so long as its a reflection of the market in some aspect. citywire is good for some info like here they highlight which stocks are in favour by funds, since funds are large buyers it does no harm to be aware of what they like and why

    perhaps you could give me an example of a share whose price doesn't change month after month?

    arithmetic mean, tbh i would have thought that would have been obvious.
