Train ticket booked online - have they charged me extra?

EDIT: DELETE THIS PLEASE
Hi,
Booked a train ticket online and collected tickets from station as usual.
But upon receiving the correct tickets, I also received a debit/credit card sales voucher with a different total to that of my tickets. Moreover, the total amount has a suffix letter 'C' after the price shown.
The actual ticket price was deducted from my account when booking online, I've checked my internet banking to confirm this. When collecting tickets at station, I didn't enter my card PIN at any stage - only the booking reference.
Have they cheekily taken a bit extra for themselves? Or is it a promotional voucher of some sort?
Please advise, I've tried contacting customer services but they seem to know nothing about the tickets they sell.
Many thanks!

Log into your account and check the booking details.
Check your bank/card statement.
You can then check if the amount charged is the same as the ticket price.
If you used Thetrainline, then they do indeed charge fees. Use a TOC website instead (e.g. East Coast)0 -

when i buy tickets i use thetrainline and have no problems in the past. i think its unfair that you knock them just because they charge fees other TOC website might not charge booking fee but most get you on postal fees which is what East Coast do :mad:Fares Advisor & Oyster Specialist - Newdeal/ukRail Fares Workshop Accredited0 -
No, 'most' do not charge postage fees.geordie_taxi wrote: »when i buy tickets i use thetrainline and have no problems in the past. i think its unfair that you knock them just because they charge fees other TOC website might not charge booking fee but most get you on postal fees which is what East Coast do
Anyway, postage is an option, not compulsory.
It is possible with 'most' train operating companies to avoid all fees.
It is not possible to avoid all fees if using thetrainline.0 -

May have something to do with the FACT, Of a 'ad' for the 'Trainline' every few minutes on the telly.0 -
Well, Southern Railway for a start.geordie_taxi wrote: »other than redspottedhanky which ones dont charge postal fees?
East Coast do not charge for postage if there is no opportunity to pick up tickets at your starting point.
I can't be bothered looking them all up.
No, it's not my opinion at all.geordie_taxi wrote: »

All I have said is that if you buy from them you will pay fees.
There is no way to avoid it.
If you buy from a train operating company (or redspottedhanky since you mentioned it) it is possible not to pay fees.0 -

Why'd you want the tickets posted anyway? It's easier just to collect them from the machine at the station imo.
I have no idea why anyone would use The Trainline. I assume people see the adverts and aren't aware there is any other way of buying tickets.geordie_taxi wrote: »but if they are such a bad company how come they havent gone bust they most be doing something right perhaps its there customer services which compared to other TOC isnt to bad.
For buying train tickets, I can't think of many times where it would matter at all how good the customer service is. Other than charging your card multiple times or sending you the wrong tickets, there isn't much they can screw up.0 -

No stations in my area have ticket machines so post is the main option0 -

As for East Coast, postage is FREE if ticket collection is not available at your station of origin. If ticket collection is available, that is free.
If I book Poppleton to London, postage is free. If I book York to London, collection is free.
There is no fee for credit/debit cards and no booking fee.
So, why use Thetrainline when you can easily avoid the fees?!
No-one said they were a bad company. But, if you're asking? yeah they are a bad company IMO. I've been badly treated by them so I don't use them any more.geordie_taxi wrote: »but if they are such a bad company
Because they're very well known and many people pay the fees without realising they could avoid them. But this is a moneysaving site, we should really be advising people on how to avoid fees, no?geordie_taxi wrote: »how come they havent gone bust
I've experienced poor customer service from Thetrainline and so have others I know.geordie_taxi wrote: »they most be doing something right perhaps its there customer services which compared to other TOC isnt to bad.0 -
At least you can be safe in the knowledge that geordie-exiles fees that he pays to the trainline are going on some shocking adverts that are never off the bloody telly. Blame him for that"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0
