closing tsb account

i wrote a letter to tsb weeks ago asking to close my current account and a cash isa, and to transfer the money (approx £90) to a new account with a different bank. provided them with the details

got the statements in the post about the closing balances.
they were closed on 29th november

surely my money should be in my new account by now? but it isn't.
its been 8 working days. i would of thought a maximum of 5 days.

any thoughts?

i will be popping down first thing in the morning to have a chat in branch

  • best to run down a/cs to £1 or so, before any transfer-

take the cash out yourself, and re-deposit.

Lloyds TSB are a bit of a nightmare when you want to close an account, it took me 3 written attempts and a formal complaint to get mine closed.

Oh this sounds good for me who's wanting to close 2 current accounts & a savings account then.

When asking to transfer to another account with another bank, can they do this direct, or do they just send a cheque to you in your name? I asked Santander to close one account & pay the funds into another of my (Santander) accounts. They closed it & sent me a cheque saying that is what i had requested.

I emptied my account myself by just doing an online transfer, I think that would be easier. All I wanted was the account closed. The first 2 times they said that they hadn't received my letter, but that I needed to fill in a closure form to close it anyway, which they said they'd send me, but never did. So in the end I wrote a letter to their complaints dept who sorted it out straight away, and gave me a little compensation for my trouble. It was easier closing my Santander account!

I have had santander transfer money when i closed an account with them and it went into my barclays account

i also had a halifax account, closed this, asked for a transfer to tsb, but got a cheque, but the cheque arrived very quickly

these were a few years ago

i have really been fed up with tsb this year, mainly for account charges changing from 1 month to the next - was paying around £8 a month, then got a letter saying is was reducing to around £6, that lasted a month before going upto around the £7 mark, and then approx £9, and the last fee just before the account closed was £8.05.

they sent letters to say i would pay less, but no letters when the fee was increased

I still have £1 in a savings account with TSB from about 15 years ago. It was easier to leave it open then to argue with them - they wanted two forms of ID to close the account, but I could transfer the money without such documents so I did that.

popped into the branch today to see if they knew anything

on their records it says the transfer (CHAPS) was done on 29/11/11, and into the right account

got a reference number, and direct contact number for the transfer unit, but of course, they are closed today

oh, just read that tsb charge £30 for CHAPS. they better not of taken £30 the transfer (wherever the money is) or there will be trouble
