Scart to VGA cable any good?

I am looking to replace my TV with an LCD monitor as I just got a computer for my bedroom. I don't need a TV tuner in the monitor as I will be plugging my freeview PVR into it. My computer will go in the DVI on a new monitor, but that leaves me pondering what to do with the scart output from my STB.
Most monitors seems to have DVI and VGA inputs and I have seen scart to VGA cables for around £10-£15. Does anyone know if this picture will be decent, it says the cable outputs in RGB so I guess that's good? My other option is to look for a monitor with s-video input but these seem less common so I would be limiting my choice. Which would give a better picture. If anyone has any better suggestions for a solution I'm all ears (or eyes, I guess!)

You can get LCD screens that have svideo etc rather than "monitors" - they are typically aimed at commercial applications though so tend to be much more reliable but more expensive.
You need to check what the signal type the VGA input on the monitor will accept. The VGA is just a socket type and just because you can jimmy a wire into it doesnt mean it will accept the signal that goes down it.
If it does accept RGB signals via VGA then it will be identical picture quality to RGB via scart as it is the signal type that defines picture quality and not the shape of the socket that happens to be at the end of the wireAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
