Malaysian Airlines to Australia

Hi all,

Not a newbie to MSE, but a newbie to this forum. I hope you don't mind me jumping in.

I have a question for all you seasoned travellers. My OH and I are off to Australia (where I am from) in June. We normally fly JAL and have absolultely no complaints.

However, the best fare coming up is with Malaysian Airlines. I have never flown with them before. Can anyone comment?

My main question is though, there is a flight where you arrive in Malaysia at 9.00 pm and do not leave until 9.00 am the following morning. Does anyone have any experience of the airline providing the hotel (like JAL)?

Thanks

Malaysian is supposed to be one of the very best airlines in the world, on a par with Singapore. I've never flown with them, I'm afraid.

As for the transit hotel, I suggest you call the airline.

Malaysian are a very good airline with 34inch seats in economy, better than pretty much anyone.

They won't provide an airport hotel as they do have connecting flights (they must just be full) wheras JAL do have not have connecting flights from Australia going to the UK.

You can book the hideously overpriced Pan Pacific Airport Hotel, that has the benefit of being attached to the airport. Or you can do as I did, and stay at the Concorde Inn KLIA which is 10 minutes away by free half hourly shuttle bus (which you will never find). It feels, and looks like an army barracks, but will save you approx £80 for one night.

If I had the money I would have stayed at the Pan Pacific.

My recommendation is if you have the time, extend your stay by a night, and travel into KL proper. A nice place to break up your journey.

    Thanks for the replies.

I might just stick at it and try and find an easier connection.

Failing that, JAL might come to party and lower their prices.
