best way to buy on ebay?

The cost of the item brand new is over £200.

The latest bid, and there are only 3, is just under £5.00.

Plus the item is broken/faulty but I have just the spare to fix it as I also have the same item, mine is broken in another place.

I can get one working item from 2 broken items.

I just think that the other bidders are thinking the same as me, get it cheap and repair it.

The item is a lot less than what it would cost to get mine repaired, so far.

I would be quite happy to bid upto £60 but if I can get it for £5 or £6 (plus £15 postage) I will be more than happy

I have a credit card registered with paypal.

The end time of the auction, to me, seems a funny time, but since I will be at home all day I can sit and watch it.

So how are first time bidders/buyers meant to buy something then?

Bid on a lot of rubbish so that you have a history?

As a seller (and buyer) I don't block new bidders - although some do - but I do admit that, if I was selling something high end and a brand new buyer bid, my pulse rate would jump for a minute :D

As the others have said, don't wait to the last minute to try a little bid just to make sure you will be allowed.

I know you haven't done this before but I'm sure you've read things and therefore know that if the item is currently at £5 that doesn't mean that someone hasn't already but in a higher bid. Of course, by the same token if you put in your maximum of £60 and no-one else bids then you could still get it for £6. Hope that makes sense.

    Don't bid a round figure.

If your going to bid a tenner go for £10 .01 it will give you the advantage that if bids are thrown against yours you may survive a bid of £11.00 (if for example bids go up in £1.00 increments)

I snipe as well ...Usually around the 7 second mark ...Not last second in as I will win an equal or close bid, even by a second or two , but not enough time left to type out and bid up on me.

snipping will not guarantee to win you auctions ...It will stop you getting into a bidding frenzy that only really benefits the seller.
