New Generation Parking

Evening all, like many, I'm posting for the first time 'cos I need advice re a parking charge I've just received.
I got it from a company called New Generation Parking who are charging me £50 for 12mins over the limit of 30 in a car park. It'll go up to £75 if I don't pay within 7 days. It'll then increase weekly if I don't pay. I've read lots of the threads and the general advice is to ignore the notice but I have to admit, I'm a bit worried.
Has anyone had any dealings with this company? Are they easy to ignore?

Thanks

Well, I've taken the first step and binned the notice. It's encouraging that others have had dealings with this company and have ignored the !!!!!!s ( Excuse the lingo :o )
How long do you reckon before I get the next letter?

Are there any chances that they'll carry out the threat of taking the vehicle away or is this threat only about when the car is parked in the car park in the first place?
i.e could they, in theory, turn up at the house and tow my car away?

None. They can't tow your car from outside your house or anywhere else for that matter. They couldn't legally tow the car if you parked in the same car park, though they might try it on.

  • Bairdy, please note that the people offering advice on this forum have all faced down the scammers and laughed at their meaningless threats. Eventually the scammers crawl back under their stone when they realise you cannot be conned. There are too many calls on money at Christmas to waste it on pondlife.

Yes, I have seen off two invoices from Trethowans on behalf of my wife in respect of parking at her workplace. I had to adopt a different strategy to what is usually recommended but we haven't heard a peep from them since June 2010.
