I have had my Cahoot (on line) account for quite a few years now and have never had the need to pay a cheque into my account (its all been electronic transfers etc.).
However, I have recently been sent a cheque and have mislaid my paying in book.
Does anyone know if the Post Office still take deposits for Cahoot?
Would me not having a paying in slip be a problem?
Could I go to a Santander Branch seeing as they are the parent company?

When I needed to pay cheques into my cahoot account I used a post-paid envelope supplied by cahoot. The address on the envelope is:
 cahoot
 21 Precot Street
 PO Box 30630
 London
 E1 8BR
My experience of Santander branches is that they will do absolutely nothing to help cahoot customers. Once I needed to pay some money in so it reached my account immediately and they said they couldn't do it - even though cahoot has a Santander sort code. I argued the toss, but got nowhere. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

            what is your sort code?
I'll tell you straight away if we can pay in as I work in a santander branch.
I've only ever seen one cahoot cheque in 2 years of working for Santander.0

It'll probably be 09-06-40what is your sort code?
If Rhymsta logs in and goes to Account Manager/Deposit Envelopes there is the option to order either free Post Office or Royal Mail prepaid envelopes from cahoot. I use the Post Office ones that reach cahoot the next day.
[Edit] You are [obviously] supposed to enclose a paying-in slip from a paying-in book or from the back of your cheque book [if you have one] but the Post Office envelopes require you to enter your account no. on the envelope - presumably to allow for anyone who doesn't enclose a paying-in slip. Writing your account no. on the back of the cheque being paid in is also a good idea!".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0

            Thanks for the replies....
The sort code is interesting because in the section, on-line, about cash and cheques it mentions it and quotes it as 09-06-41 and later on the same page as 09-06-43 whereas when I go back to my personal home page it says it is 09-06-40.
I have spoken to someone who uses the Post Office to pay in cheques to Cahoot and they say that their branch at least has a stock of paying in envelopes behind the counter.
I know that some banks have spare paying in slips and that the like of the Yorkshire Bank will let you pay in without a paying in book (and often don't issue one anyway) as long as you have some proof of ID.0

Well I went into Santader today and it was looking hopeful... The guy said I could pay it in at the cash machine using my debit card. He even came over to show me how but there was no option on the screen to pay money in. He said it must be because it was a Cahoot debit card.
Anyway, they couldn't help me at all.
So I walked up the road and paid it straight into my Halifax online account at the counter without even having to wrote out a paying in slip!
This was really surprising because it specifically says on the Halifax websaver details that I would not be able to do so.
They also quote 4 working days for the cheque to clear whereas Cahoot talk about over 7.
I get the feeling that Santander would be happy if all the Cahoot customers jumped ship...0

Nope, no option on our computer systems to pay into that sort code.0

To be fair, it does say that 09-06-41 is the code needed to pay your credit card and 09-06-43 is the code for savings accounts [not currently of "interest"!]......The sort code is interesting because in the section, on-line, about cash and cheques it mentions it and quotes it as 09-06-41 and later on the same page as 09-06-43 whereas when I go back to my personal home page it says it is 09-06-40.

I do know of a Post Office that used to stock the envelopes, but I always keep some myself.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0

I pay cheques into my cahoot account all the time. Just request a paying in book on-line - it will come in a couple of days. You can also request paying in envelopes which you just post. These are pre-paid. Or they have post office paying in envelopes at every post office (well they certainly have them at my mini village post office!!)0
