IKEA picture frames not fit for purpose!

A few months ago we bought a large (70 x 100 cm) Odby picture frame from IKEA. They proudly state that their large frames use acrylic instead of glass to keep the weight down, which sounded like great news to me. It took me and OH a while to agree on what picture to put in it so we only used it last week.
It comes supplied with a wire and clips like seen halfway down the page:

and so that's what I used to hang the frame on the wall last week. Went to make a cup of tea when we heard a massive crash, rushed back to find that the frame had fallen off the wall on to the sofa and the bottom edge was totally trashed - thank goodness nobody was sitting there
At first we thought it was our crappy DIY skills at putting in strong enough wall attachments - but it turned out that one of the metal clips had snapped!
We took the frame back to IKEA, who said as it was over 90 days they would give us a credit note. Thinking it was probably a freak occurrence (and that if there was a known fault it would be known by now) we simply swapped it for another identical frame.
Got it home, put the picture in, hung it on the wall and waited nervously. It stayed put all afternoon and all evening. We went to bed. Next morning, yes, the frame had fallen off the wall and was trashed again! This time, the wire seems to have cut through the little hole in the metal clip
I guess we are going back to IKEA again this weekend
but I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this or if we were unlucky twice - I believe the hanging wire and clips supplied are simply not suitable for the large frame sizes - they should either supply something different or at least provide a warning?

I have a few of the huge Ribba frames around the house, I've always used the wall screw fixings that screw into the frame and then are drilled into the wall (the proper name escapes me at present). Because of the size of the frames I use I've never trusted wire hanging.0

In retrospect I should have done the same! I do feel pretty daft for trusting the wire/clips twice
It was just naive of me to think that the supplied equipment might have some relevance to the productWhen I've had pictures framed properly, I've just happily hung them up with whatever the framer saw fit to provide. Perhaps an analogy would be if you bought a printer and it came with a printer cable in the package, you would expect it to fit the printer?

Oh I agree, and most people would use the supplied fixings. I do it mainly because when I used to do Degree shows and the like we always hung with the screw hooks (so as not to kill passing viewers hehe) so I just preferred to use the screws. Added to this they house some quite expensive Shepherd Fairey prints and I wanted to be 100% certain they were going nowhere.
Have a moan at Ikea, they should replace the frame then get some of the sturdy brackets. Wilko's used to be rather cheap for them.0 -
