Vented Tumble Dryer? No outlet - Advice?
Options

Hi,
Me and my g/f moved into our first house about 7 months ago it came with some appliances including washer/dryer combi - now the washer aspect of it is fine but dryer aspect is a joke can take upto 3 hours to dry clothes and what with the dodgy weather we have had no choice but to use it.
Anyway we are now going to buy a seperate dryer now but our kitchen is quite small so the only place we can fit it is in the Cellar, now there is not outlet for a vented tumble dryer - is there an alternative to buying a condensor dryer (seen as they are most expensive)? We need one especially since my g/f is pregnant and using the combi with a babies clothes to get through is not an option.
For example a box you can place the hose from the dryer in?
Advice?
If there is no option what is the best condensor dryer for price and value?
Thanks in advance

I have seen a gizmo thing which you put the hose in. I think you had to put an ice block in it and it collected the water.
edit just checked kleeneze and betterware websites and they have options for collecting the steam. not sure how good they would be though.x x x0 -
We have one of these box things and they actually work quite well.Must admit i hardly ever use the frozen blocks in it because they took up quite alot of space in my freezer but as long as you have water in there they seem fine.Does make some water vapour and collects quite abit of dust but i think they are worth the money, cant remember what i paid but think it was under £20 so alot cheaper than condenser dryers.wendy x0

The box things are fab, according to my mum, but the only problem is that you have to make sure the 2 ice blocks are available for when you want to tumble dry, which obviously means having them in your freezer virtually all the time, and they are about the size of a shoe box each.
There is a product on the market that does the same thing, but just uses water instead of ice, but I cannot for the life of remember where I saw it now. Have a look on eBay cos that's where mums was from.
I personally use a very MSE methodMy vent used to go outside until my conservatory was built, hence nowhere to put the hose anymore. So I put the hose in a pyrex bowl (well away from any plugs/sockets cos of the steam), open a window to let the steam out and jobs a guddun!
TBH If I forget to open the window there is only a slight steaming of the windows too.
Hope this helps!0 -
When I had a vented dryer I had one of the items mentioned by dogrose(can't remember the name of it) which I bought from betterware. I can't remember having any problems with it at all. Hope this helps.0

Just to add that I think Argos sell them too, but you'd have to scour the book for them cos they aren't in the index. Maybe around the laundry or plastic kitchenware section - with mops, brushes, wash baskets etc?0

most cellars should have some kind of air brick or ventilation.
if you can find this the you can install a second vent adjacent to the air brick and then vent directly.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Thanks for the info!
Are these boxes ok then will they do the job as talking to my family and one of them was saying they were crap, how have people found them? Because in my cellar it is quite cool and not damp at all but i have my main electrics board down there and also i store boxing posters i have collected over the year (would move them if they were an issue)0 -
My OH bought one those box things a couple of months ago due to us revamping the kitchen.
As others have said you really need to keep the ice blocks in a freezer. The plus side for us is it works a treat.I was slightly sceptical at first, but not any more. If my memory serves me right it cost around £15.0 -
Just one thing to mention. Are you trying to dry a full washing load in one go?
You are supposed to take half the washing out and dry it in two runs which should take much less time.0
