it was taken off because an electric fire was there and we knocked through the wall to put a stove it so plaster had to be redone

i can see it changing colour already stuck a dehumidifier in the room for a few hours tonight and it seemed to work really well.

We have an undercoat type paint that says its suitable to go on to masonary and plaster, would this do the job straight on and paint it in our emulsion colour after

as a decorator what you need to do is forget the masonary paint/undercoat

either find a retailer that sells this cheap white matt emulsion 10lts for £5 ( this is like milk) paint over the dry plaster with 2 coats of this or a thinned , 70% paint 30% water of white matt emulsion , they 1 coat of a thinned , 70% paint 30% water of the final colour you want for the wall and then 2 coats of the unthinned final colour and this should be job done.

another money saving tip for those who gloss over white paint in a different colour. rather than getting a coloured undercoat. get white undercoat place some in a pot/dish, add a few drops of the gloss colour and mix and they you can paint with the coloured undercoat

we already have the primer bought, it is "international 3 in 1 Primer Sealer Undercoat for wood metal plaster brickwork and plasterboard, surely this would still do the same job? Obviously the other seems like a cheaper option
