Hi All

Just wondered what everyone was paying per hour for Gas?

I have a 4 bed detatched and use NPower. I use gas to cook and heat the house and pay a single tier with standing charge.

I have a 65% Efficient Boiler with no Therm Rad valves.

The cost per KWH including the above is 48p:

96p per hour as I use 2 KWH each hour!!!

How does that compare with the rest of you?

Typical cost of a Kilowatt Hour gas is around 4.8 pence.

Something wrong with your assumptions or methodology.

The efficiency of your CH system is irrelevant, unless you are saying that to get a kwh worth of heat into your house you have to burn 2 kwhs worth of gas.

Yes I meant I use 2 per hour so the 96p is the cost per hour...that was what I was asking to compare really.

Seems the 48p I pay is about average.

Do people use about 2 per hour?

Too many variables, the weather probably being the main single factor.

Last week I used 236 Kwh of Gas, the week before it was only 180.

A kWh of gas is around 3.5p. if you burn 2kWh it will cost you around 7p.
Where do you get 48p from?

Sorry brain dead today, you are right of course.

The price I was trying to post was 4.8 pence which is the current Ebico price.

My excuse is I was thinking about Harry Morgan having passed away and my fondness for his character in M*A*S*H.

Hmmm - 4 bed house with gas from Ebico ?

Ebico are good news for very low users because they don't apply any standing charges, but their Kwh price is high and are bad news for higher users - Perhaps you could post your annual Gas Kwh consumption

Agree You might be saving less than £100 in standing charges, but on an average UK consumption of around 17,500kWh you'd be paying maybe £200 more on the kWh rate.
