Hi guys, I hope you can help me.

I ordered a t shirt from America a couple of weeks ago, and DHL phoned to tell me there was an £8 charge on it.
I paid for this online.
A couple of days ago, my package was delivered to my house where my nan lives, and when she answered, the DHL delivery man told her there was a £8 charge payable.
She had to go upstairs to get her purse, and she only had a £10 note.
The delivery man said he does not have change, and takes the £10 note off her.

My nan is 88 years old, and I am absolutely furious.

I have tried contacting DHL but they have not replied.

I have tried calling them, and emailing them, but nothing.

What is my best course of action? Not only have I been charged twice, but this guy has taken money of my nan, which I am more bothered about. :(

Thanks

Im sure DHL drivers don't take payments, maybe he was pulling a fast one ?
  • Yeah I'm pretty sure he was too.

I just don't know what steps to take next, maybe offices of fair trading?

I know for sure DHL are NOT responding to this.

  • Woah....

First of all if it has come from the states then its more than likely a Customs charge for your goods which DHL wouldve paid on yoru behalf and then claimed back from you before you recieved your goods.

The issue as to why the driver took the money is another thing alltogether as ive not heard of them doing this before - mainly through an invoice.

who have you tried within DHL about this so far?

CEO e-mail addresses - CEO email address - chief executive officer ...
  • Thanks guys, I'm going to contact the CEO and let you know what happens.

I'm just more bothered about him taking money off my Nan than the fact I've been charged twice :(

  • Wow! I emailed the CEO's via DHL's website, and literally within less than a minute a really nice gentleman emailed me back.

I'm pretty impressed so far! Fingers crossed.
