Evans halshaw - what to expect

Last week I put a deposit over the phone on a nearly new car that I spotted on the Evans halshaw website (car was a good price and what I'd been looking for for a while)

I've already had my car valued for part exchange by them and plan to pay in cash. I've also said I won't need the £98 "check" charge as I'm doing a HPI check myself which they said is ok.

Just wondering as Evans halshaw has so much bad press for "pushing sales" and gap insurance etc, when i go to pick the car up, what can I expect from them? What will they be trying to force me to buy?

Just looking to be prepared :) cheers

i bought from evans halshaw in april did not pay any add ons ,paid in full by cheque for the agreed price and was and still very happy with my purchase.
  • all depends on who your sales rep is, some just like to go with the flow, some like to add as much on for as much commission as possible.

    tips.

Take a print out of the ADVERT with you, make sure its as described in the advert because this is the vehicle spec youve been looking for and happy with with the mileage etc etc.

check all paper work, HPI check can still be added to the final price as they like you to pay for the one they have done when its been brought in prior to advertising it.

GAP insurance is handy to have but purchase your own so you know exactly what is covered, theres good ones outhere half the price dealers like to sell theirs at.

check, check and check again, start the car FROM COLD if its been warmed up, tell the sales rep switch it off and give it an hour to cool down fully go have a cuppa and a walk around then find him when its time to start from cold (all knocks taps rattles etc are prominant from cold start up)

check the mileage when you return to the car sometimes mistakes are made the sales rep can get the mileage on the warranty form and the purchase reciept inaccurate if it is not correct after you return to the car after purchase go right back in and have it corrected.

check the car has its alloy wheel locking nut key present, all hand books present, key fob codes, spare key, uptodate service record if advertised having its service, radio code.

press hard for matts and flaps and a tank of fuel and good luck :P
