Request from Germany for rare Cognac

Hello,
I'm in the process of selling a rare Cognac on eBay. Listing here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250948403475#ht_500wt_949
[In fact, I had sold it a few days ago for £365, but the winning bidder didn't want to pay, his daughter apparently having bid for the item in error but that's another story...
]
Anyway, I've had an enquiry from Germany asking how much it would cost to post there.
Any idea on how much this would cost and what the best method would be? The Royal Mail website doesn't seem to be fully functioning at the moment...
Also, am I even safe selling to Germany? What is it gets queried after having been sent out... where would I stand?
Thanks for any advice.

Firstly you need to check postage requirements- Germany has some odd little exemptions to allowable imports and I have an inkling that alcohol is one of the restricted ones.
Then you need to find a courier that will cover and insure the item. Then you need to comply with all the usual requirements for full seller protections - clearly outlined in the sticky 'postage' thread.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. BTW if your item is exactly as stated then you maybe need to rethink your policy of a 'low start' on ebay- it might be safer to take it to a proper auction house ot start it at a price more in line with the expected value.
You also need to be aware of the ebay policy of selling alcohol- which is of course forbidden- and you need to stress you are selling a collectable bottle that just happens to have alcohol in it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
