i got some more batteries from local shop yestersday and after about 5 hours there still going strong so maybe we got a bad set last time?
anyway got an adaptor today ended up having to buy the masterplug multi adaptor from agros so hope its ok0 -
Would personally have tried 6V DC supply first to equal the 4 x 1.5V cells. There's going to be a voltage regulator in the device any way so if people have reported it working at 9V then should be ok, but wouldn't personally go any higher. Would be interesting to see what voltage the official Vtech PSU is. Will probably work with PSUs down to 4.8V (4 x 1.2V NiMH /NiCd rechargable batteries) and a bit lower.
Ran a firmware upgrade on mine using the Learning Lodge. There's no mention of what has changed and didn't notice any difference in operation.
There's a site showing how to get videos on the device here http://www.setupmyinnotab.co.uk/ and also a video on youtube.
Apologies if this has been posted earlier in the thread but haven't read it in it's entirity.0 -

are the rechargables 1.2v or 1.5v?

We have been using Duracell AA size rechargeables. Just checked and they are 1.2v so you will be fine. Ours seem to last a fair while too.0
