Hello all, I was just wondering if anyone was a motorhome specialst and can advise of the best way I can sell my motorhome as quickly as possible. Will I lose a lot of money if I go for something like an action or, heaven forbid, eBay!!

Thanks in advance. Wendy.

Unfortunately to get the best price for your motorhome, you need to be in a position to wait and take time to 'find' a good buyer (something you say you can't do); therefore without sounding hard - you won't get top price if you're in a hurry to sell.

Have you actually checked out eBay prices (using the completed button once you have run a search)??

many people buy and sell cars on ebay - one thing it definitely is, is fast and straightforward. Also less haggling and fewer (but not totally eliminates) timewasters.

Hi Wendy and welcome. You don't say what kind of motorhome you have? if it is one of the popular ones then my limited experience is that they are in demand at this time of year. Have you done price comparisond for your model on ebay and in your local papers etc?

It's a Swift Sundance, a big motorhome as opposed to a VW campervan. It's on a few websites but I've found a few more to put it on... anybody wanna buy one?!

I think there is a specialist "Autotrader" style listings magazine for caravans, autohomes etc so that is definite area to look at.

I think you will get some good advice at https://www.honestjohn.co.uk - have a look in the forum there - nice people and quite a few traders amongst the 100's regularly contributing
  • The good news is that spring and very early summer is a good time to sell your camper (BTW what is your camper based on ei Ford, Fiat ect). You can try https://www.Loot.com as it's free. If you have a Ford Transit, try Ford Transit Forum at https://www.fordtransit.org which is new and has a transits for sale section, and some of the members have campers anyway. Personally I am not a fan of ebay (largely due to my own impatience!), but I would give it a try.
"Excuse me, this expires today, will you be reducing it?"

Thanks for all your ideas. I didnt know about the completed actions on eBay so that has been really useful. I think I may give eBay a try, what have I got to lose apart from a bit more sanity! Will also check out Autotrader and Loot. The costs are adding up though.

For info the van is a Fiat. It's a coachbuild (the big ones that look like a caravan) rather than the easier to sell VW campers.

You're actually just into the best time of year to sell, as mentioned.

E bay could well be an answer, alternativly, www.british-car-auctions.co.uk have specialist Caravan/Motorhome sales at some auction centres. The one in Measham Staffs holds them farly regularly, so talking to their sales manager there, will give you an idea of it's likely £$£$£.

Other than that, dealers like http://www.manhattanmotorhomes.com/ (never had dealings with them so NOT a definite recommend) might offer a sale or return option, displaying & advertising it on their forecourt & adverts, for a commission wen it is actually sold. You would of course need to be 100% happy leaving the vehicle with someone, in this manner.

I have a Swift Sundance (bought in March - wish I had known about yours!) They are popular because they are relatively small (less than 18' long) for a coachbuilt, and Swift generally have a good name. You may have to wait a while to get a good price, but try MMM (Motorcaravan Motorhome Monthly) which is widely read in the motorhome world. Second hand motorhomes keep their value much better than cars, so as long as it is in good condition and been well maintained you should get a fair price for it, especially at this time of year.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

also try on motorhomefacts.co.uk. a great website and very helpful. i think you may have to pay a tenner to list it in the classifieds tho. also ukcampsite.co.uk and preloved.co.uk are also good ones. we have sold 3 in the last few years due to upgrading and although i have had alot of responses from all of these sites i have still sold them quicker on e bay
