Help buying fireman helmet for 1 year old?

Hi,
For Christmas, we've bought our nephew a wooden ride-on fire engine. Had thought getting a fireman's helmet to go with it would be a good idea, however noticed that they ALL state a min age of 3 years.
He'll be 15 months at Christmas, and I have looked absolutely everywhere online, and can't seem to find a fireman's helmet which is suitable for someone of that age. Please can anyone help?
Thanks.

Somethings say 3 because they might have a strap on or something that could come off easily and choke them - see if it fits anyway and then look to see why its been given a 3yr guide and make it safe.
I've adapted many toys that were for 3+.1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
50p: Christmas presents £3.50
£2: holidays £2.000 -
The only one I could find at ELC was also for 3 years+ unfortunately.0

It comes with some other toys but how about this:

Wouldn't he hate wearing anything on his head? The ride on sounds fab!:wall:0

My son got the Fireman Sam one last year - he was under 2 at the time, he wears it every day without fail and loves it, i think it is probably 3+ but fits ok and the strap is probably the only thing that could be a problem?0

I ignore those labels. Use your own judgement as to whether it is safe for your child. Most of my DD's toys are children older than her and she isn;t dead
Just check for straps and things like that and remove them if necessary, but I can;t imagine a fireman's helmet would be unsafe. It might be too big though. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

My now 2 year old is completely obsessed by having things on his head has been for the last year. Hat was virtually his first word!
He wears a rainbow beany thing most of the time only taking it off to put on my caps, mummys sun hat or any number of dress up hats and helmets at nursery.
If you stick to toys for under 3's till they are 3 they have a very boring time.
Basically testing a toy for under 3 is complex and expensive, a lot of toys have small bits but my boy does not put stuff in his mouth, much more likely to put it on his head!0 -
Thank for the replies. Bit put off by the comment saying he would hate having something on his head, is that a general comment about children of that age? Don't want to buy something he won't like!
Can appreciate what you guys are saying about buying things rated 3+ for younger children. But as it's not my child and I have no experience of this I'd prob rather play it safe just in case!
Thanks to MrsManda for the Kiddicare link, I'd rather get just the helmet seeing as we've got him a fullsize fire engine but that might be our best option at the moment. So thanks for that.0
