Route one takes you up the coast through some lovely towns.You have to travel up the I 95 to escape the sprawl of Boston first,but well worth it.Or go up into Vermount,which we did in a day,stopping off at the Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory!rcman wrote:on this subject - we are planning to do a twin city break for eight days in September - 4 days New York & 3 or 4 in Boston. for anyone going to boston/new england here are some tips :go on whale watching trip in boston,dont be scared to use the metro [very safe].go to the white mountains in new hampshire,drive around rhode island and see the stately homes,and visit arcadia national park in maine.did a fly drive for 17 days around new england and only drove 900miles.0

Just got back form my New England trip and can only say New england is a truly wonderful place to visit.
