Voucher With No Expiry Date, advice needed

I've recently dug out a £170 voucher for 10 driving lessons which i've had for several years, the voucher has my name on it, the value (£170) and confirms the service to be provided. I called today to redeem the voucher and have been told that they were not willing to honour it due to it's age (all current vouchers they provide state an expiration date).
For the same deal today the price would be £200; i'm going in to see the manager tomorrow and woould like to know where i stand legally. I'm under the impression that if i pay the extra £30 they would have to honour the voucher? Is this correct and if not where do i stand legally?

If there's no expiration date on the voucher, and the company who issued it is still trading, then you can use this as a valid form or payment. (IMHO). Without an expiry date then it hasn't, well, expired.0

Thats what i thought, but the voucher was a gift and i thought that maybe if the expiration date was stated when it was purchased then maybe they might get away with not honouring it. i'm hoping the onus is on them to prove there was an expiration date stated at the time of purchase.0
