Lovely old town, has quite a few decent places to eat including a couple of Wetherspoons for cheap beer and food (one by the quay). If you're using the free FCC tickets promoted on this site earlier then if you get bored you can always jump on the next train back and visit Ely instead on the same ticket! Also those tickets have no time restrictions so you can set off as early as you like rather than being restricted to out of peak services.

Less than ten minutes from Watlington.

    Where are you travelling from?

For eating I recommend Crown & Mitre Ferry St, The landlord (Roger) is as grumpy as the reviews say he is but the place is wonderful and the view from the dining room delightful.

Kings Lynn though is a town struggling in the recession and a lot of stores have shut (Not helped by the big Tesco on edge of town and soon, on opposite sides of the same road, an even bigger Tesco and an absolutely massive Sainsburys)

Old buildings worth a view other than that you may well struggle to find things to do.

There is the Tuesday market place which strangely holds markets on a Tuesday and a Friday there is also a market on a Saturday on the errrr Saturday market place!

At all other times the Tuesday Market place is a car park.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.
  • I live very close to Kings Lynn so know it very well. thursday is late night shopping so might have a little bit of a 'christmassy feel'. Apart from that I am afraid that it is a run of the mill town but nice to get free train tickets - worth a change of scenerey!!

The first line of the thread says 'london to king's lynn'. So, I'm guessing - London.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

But a different person asked the question. ;)
