Booking flights individually to get them cheaper

I'm currently trying to book flights to the Algarve for my husband, infant and myself. If I try and book for just me and baby I get an outbound flight £5 cheaper that if I book for all 3 of us at the same time. I assume this is as the airline only has 1 seat left at the cheaper price.
But if I try and book for all 3 of us both adults have to pay for the higher priced ticket, not one at the lower rate and 1 at the higher rate, so a £10 not £5 difference. I obviously could book them seperatley but will that cause additional problems in terms of how we are seated etc if we have different booking numbers? Currently I'm tempted just to book the 3 tickets together and pay the additional £5.
Thanks

How much is the saving with credit/debit card fees, is it still the same?
Does the airline operate allocated seating?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Good point. Prob would book with debit card so no additional charge and yes they do do allocated seating but only if you pay for it.:j Go on, shake your money maker! :j0

I'd check the airline's policy for seating people with babies on their website and see if you get priority boarding or can book a cot if the baby is young or if available.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I think I would pay the additional money just in case you can't get 3 seats on the plane because in the meantime someone else makes a booking and the 3 of you can't get on the plane together. Not likely - but possible.0

If its a matter of just £5 and a guarnatee that you'll be able to sit together with your hubbie, I would just take the hit (unless you don't want to sit next to your hubbie, then save the £5 ;-) )"An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

Yeah I agree and I'm going to book them that way, just annoys me that the airline can sneak another £5 out of me by doing that.
Thanks for all the comments.

Yes I quite agree. Surely the seat price should be just that, regardless of whether you want 1 seat or 10.
Anyway, peace of mind is worth paying a little extra for. All I can say is - "Have a safe journey and a great time."0
