Tumble Dryer condenser converter thing!!!

Ok as you can probably tell from my title im not really 100% sure why I'm
talking about!

My inlaws have bought us a tumble dryer for christmas....sadly I'm very excited by this!! Haha! Anyhow I have now decided that I would like to put it under my stairs, it's not a condenser one so obviously has that hose thing coming out of it. I have been on google and have seen a box thing that I can buy to 'convert' it into a condenser dryer. Basically I think it's something the hose goes into.

Has anyone any experience of these 'boxes' and do they work ok?

Thanks

i bought one but it didnt work properly , i either put the hose out of the window or place it in a bucket of cold water [works really well ] the proper ones you have to put ice in.

They're okay once in a while, I prefer to open a window - I've used one with a couple of ice packs in the bottom when it's been too cold to have windows open but it's not ideal.

I literally just bought one (£16 from b&q) and its ok i guess.
I ave some ice cubes in the freezer at the moment and am using cold water whilst they freeze.
I still have to open the window though.
  • I bought one and to be honest it was rubbish. I ended up using the tube to extend the one coming out of the dryer and open the window a little and wedge it in the opening. Mine's in the utility room though so not too bad with the window open.
  • It will be much much better if you can put the tumble dryer near a window so you can poke the vent pipe through the open window. Then all the water from the clothes goes straight outside. Otherwise you are going to be filling the house with water vapour. Even if the condenser bucket traps half the water, there will be lots left.

Our dryer is in one of the children's bedrooms. Not ideal, but there is a bit of space near a window and he seems to have got used to it.

Those things are completely useless Linz.

You need to vent it to the outside, either temporarily through a window each time you use it, or permanently by getting a hole cored through the outside wall and fitting a vent kit.

Putting one in an understairs cupboard unvented with a 'condenser kit' will make the drier take longer (and cost more) anyway, because you will be recirculating damp warm air. It it also likely to result in the risk of black mould developing.

I've got a condenser drier and believe me, you will be surprised at how much water is collected from each load.

I had one of those and it was crap. As withabix says, the amount of water that comes out of a load of drying is incredible. Have to say, my condensing tumble drier is the best appliance I have. Is it possible to ask your in laws to upgrade to a condensing drier? Or can you add some money to the purchase as I know they are more expensive.

they are useless- used my once then returned it as totally pointless. If ou can't vent the machine you need a condenser dryer-can you exchange the one your inlaws have ordered?
