A quick query from a newby about ppi
Stupidly a while back I let myself be persuaded by my wife to buy a car on credit .
That would not have been to bad but we had poor credit history and all the rest of the stuff that prevents you getting a car .
She spotted the add for yes car credit and to cut a long story short we ended up with a nice car for a massive price .
I know this was a long time ago but after many things happening in the meantime ( including my wifes death in 2008 ) I finally managed to pay off the debt on 28/09/09 .
I dont have any paperwork from yes car credit , all I have is a payment card ( with the account number on ) .
The questions are
Is it worth trying to claim back ppi ( I am certain there would have been some insurance payment ) .
And how would I start the ball rolling .
Many thanks in advance
Steve

Hello Steve and welcome
First of all, so sorry of your sad loss of your beloved wife, it must have been a difficult time for you.
However, if mis sold the PPI, you can still try making a reclaim with just the account number you have.
You do this by completing a reclaim questionnaire that is shown on step 3, send to the head office or complaints dept of whoever set up and sold you the account.
Remember to keep/save copies as well for yourself.
Or you could otherwise write a letter of complaint in your own words, by asking them to refund you because you strongly believe you were mis sold the Payment Protection Insurance (Give your reasons).
There is more info on this on the link below and the step 3 link to the questionnaire.
For example, it may have been thought that the PPI was all part of the package because it was not discussed otherwise.
Maybe you were pressurised into taking it out.
Or they did not discuss the full cost to you.
The list is endless, so whatever applies to you altogether make them aware of that and keep at them.

Thanks Dizzy I will have a good read of the forms and get down to filling them in .
The only problem I can see is finding the head office of Yes car credit , have they changed names or gone bust completely .
Or is Direct auto finance still operating ? .
Steve

My husband and I were asking the same question - how to reclaim PPI from a company that's bust?
An interesting article on the THISISMONEY website:

Apparently YCC and DAF are part of the same company, parent company is Provident Financial Group, website here:
