Client List Software

I've just started a small business and currently have my clients just in an excel document. As I get more and more this is not going to be that efficient and does anyone therefore know of budget software for a small business that keeps a front-end database of client names, possibly even what they've purchased.
I would want to just be able to type their name in and it come up with their client record.
Can anyone make any recommendations?
