Tax allowance on working clothes
I have been informed that workers who are provided a uniform which has a logo of the company they can claim back tax for cleaning.
I have spoken to the Revenue and Customs who have informed me that it is dependent on circumstances:
Does the company have an agreement with the R&C. If so then the tax will be adjusted in their tax code
If not then:
As long as the company provides a uniform with logo and if they do not provide costs to cleaning then they may have an entitlement which could be back dated 6 years. In this case each individual will have to claim
Have I got it right as above or are there some hidden obstacles
Thank you
David

If they provide cleaning facilities for them ( e.g. washing machine & powder) then you would not be entitled regardless of whether you availed yourself of the facilities or not. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
