Ive just rang the coop and cleared this up. My husband can be main driver even though I am registered owner. My son can be a named driver. All our driving will be monitored by the smartbox, obviously it doesnt distinguish between drivers.
Thanks for all help, it made me understand which questions to ask.

Hi "Ceewash", I am currently looking at this type of policy for my own son, with me being the policyholder and my son a named driver. The premium was nearly £2,000 cheaper than regular insurance companies! - Therefore I'm a bit worried if its too good to be true! Can I ask how much cheaper it was for you to take this option and if you have been pleased with it so far?
    Many thanks.

We have taken the co-op insurance and have had the tracker fitted. So far our driving is "excellent" , you can check it each day online to make sure you are staying within their set limits. Also it helps that we have 2 cars as you have to be in by 11pm on average. We are hoping to get a refund of 15% after 3 months . No problems with it so far, you just have to remember the tracker is there and drive a little more carefully. This was the only way we could afford to insure our son as the difference was vast. The next option was to put him on our existing aviva policy which was £2800, the co-op was about £1200. They ranged from that upto about £8000.
