Family of four - two adults two young children - budget for £60 a week but usually end up going slightly over by up to £10! Do my main value shop at Tesco:o where I spend around £30 then to Lidl for eggs, value crisps 24 for £1.98, fresh green veggies, value crackers and weetabix, then go to Iceland for meat, ham, 5kg potatoes for £2, pizzas, cheese 1kg for £5 !!

I spend really little time to go to malls for shoping.
I always buy things on-line as a habbit.
There are both advantages and disadwantages.
  • I spend £100 a month for me and 2 little ones. This includes everything I need including baby milk at the tune of £32 a month  nappies for them etc. I shop at Tesco as I dont drive and its quite a mission to get to different shops with the little ones

It's doable, but you have to bulk buy (ie have a storecupboard full of staples) every 6-12 months to make it happen. This is a useful thread.

There's me and my OH and we have a maximum budget of £23 per week(which includes shampoo/loo roll/toothpaste etc). We do grow our own veg, make most things from scratch and I don't eat any meat. I've been writing down everything we've spent since March of this year and so far we're just over £200 in credit.:j

  • £20-£25 a week from asda, i get the reduced items such as bread for toast etc. Buy bacon, eggs, pasta, rice, lentils, soups. As there is only me I dont need much. I have been buying tinned stuff like beans and sausages, meatballs and use these for lunches at work. I buy yoghurt but only enough for the week.

I eat cereal or toast for breakfast. Eat chocolate at weekend.

Anything left over I make a recipe out of.

Today I went into marks and did the £10 meal for two offer. i will cook half of it and keep the other bit for another day.

I also like the olives and feta cheese and buy this to add to meals such as pasta. I also buy uht milk as it keeps longer than expensive fresh milk.

I sometimes visit the market too for bargain veg that stays fresher for longer
My mum went to costco other week with my brother and she got some flaked smoked salmon in a pot, it was gorgeous for spreading on toast.

  • I spend £50 (give or take a £1) on 2 adults, 2 children, a dog and a cat. I always get 50+ items as well. I only shop at Morrisons though as I find Sainsburys too expensive and Asda bad quality and Tesco is too far away.
Life is like a box of chocolates..........you always seem to pick the hard ones!
