Post office emails....

Decided to ask in here because it's semi eBay related..

I had an email this morning from the post office to tell me that they had a parcel for me that was going to be delivered today. Which I'm presuming is something I ordered off eBay.
Is this a new thing or something you can request from the post office but not many people do?

Question is just out of curiosity really as I've never seen / heard of it before. and no it isn't a spam email as the parcel number is valid on the tracking.

We use this with our Royal Mail Tracked. On our website you also get the option to receive a text with the expected delivery date on. I don't know what other services they give this with, but is certainly available.

Not all customers appreciate it, because there are emails of a similar nature from some couriers which contain all sorts of nasties.

Cheers, was just curious as it's the first time I've seen it and had far too many parcels delivered

We have only been using it about 10 months so I am not sure how long it has been in action. I found it by accident on the RM software! It is very helpful for large parcels as it tells you it is 'out for delivery today' so you can make arrangements if you aren't going to be there. My RM account manager didn't even know about it, so it's probably lost by loads of business users.

The post office probably just sent it so they could laugh at me, they only ever seem to deliver parcels on a Wednesday. I set off for work just after 6am and collection times from the depot are 7:30am to 12:30pm except Wednesday where they're open till late; so they try and deliver on Wednesdays so they can push a card through telling me to collect it on Thursday - which means i have to wait till the weekend :(

I find it quite helpful as a customer everything5pounds use it. Once they have delivered it you sometimes get an email to advise you its been delivered as well lol.
