    The buyer doesn't know what proportion is going to a card processing company wherever they shop do they?

    I think they have to state it by the till or on your receipt these days.
    My TV is broken! :cry:
    Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

    There was a section on till receipts from some major supermarkets giving a percentage but I think this was to do with a VAT avoidance scheme rather than a retailing requirement. They were claiming that a proportion on of each bill should be zero rated as no VAT is payable on card handling fees. I don't think any retailer is required to give this information - I hope not because I don't!

    not sure your right there Fay but it would be nice to know. Gives you some haggling leverage for cash....lol

    I've definitely seen it.. but trawling through receipts yields nothing, so it must be just tills.

    By most tills (at least in major chains) it says something like 'x% of each card transaction is taken by the card processors.' It's then followed by some lame excuse about why cash buyers aren't entitled to a discount ;)
