Anyone got an BMW M3?

Looking into getting a BMW M3, the newer version around a 53 plate.
Anyone got one and if so, opinions? I know servicing is going to cost a bomb, not too worried about fuel consumption as I already drive a VW Golf R32.
Just looking for general opinions, as the reviews all say pretty much the same thing.
Worth a try!

A friend had one for about six weeks before his house was broken into so they could steal his car keys and drive off in it.
Apparently they have built in trackers. The police found it, smashed up.Never buy a stupid dwarf -

I've driven the old style and the new style M3 and used to work for a BMW dealership. Most of the reviews sum the car up nicely. It's a ridiculously fast practical car. The SMG gearbox is nice and raw. Sport mode is fun.
As you already know, big services are not far off £1k. I guess insurance isn't an issue for you either.0 -
Thanks. Can you tell me then whether the older or newer models are the better buy? Obviously both differ hugely in initial outlay.
Also, is it true that the computer records how many times you use launch control? Therefore voiding your warranty if you go over the limit?
As for the steeling issue. Have that issue with my car as they are stolen to order. I just leave my keys in an accesible place. If they are going to take it, I'm not going to try and stop them. I'd rather be in bed and never have to face them, they get the keys and the car, I get my life!!
Now gonna not have something because of a what if though.0 -

I preferred the E46. It looks better and drives well. The earlier model seems a bit more 'raw'. Depends on your budget I guess. Try and drive both and see what you think. Also, is it true that the computer records how many times you use launch control? Therefore voiding your warranty if you go over the limit?
Yes, it does record and no it doesn't invalidate the warranty directly. You will only have problems if you were deemed to have continously 'abused' the vehicle. BMW know that people are going to drive this car hard, so it would have to be a fair amount of manhandling!0 -
Thanks. Will be looking to change in about 4 months, just ruling car's out at the moment.
I wouldnt be abusing the car, but wouldn't want the warranty voided because I used a feature a couple of times!!0 -

Nah, this won't happen. Ignore anything you've heard about 'only being able to use it 30 times' or similar before invalidating the warranty, it's rubbish!0
