I currently have a capital one classic 200 limit
Capital one progress 2500
Vanquis 1000
Aqua 700
I currently have 1 satisfied default which will fall off at the end of the year and a county court judgement with a couple of months until the 6 years time limit.
My question is how long after they fall off my file before applying for a mainstream card and current account and should I ditch the subprime stuff before I apply I've learned my lessons from my past debt and have no intention of repeating my past mistakes I've been in the credit wilderness for 6 years sorry if I'm repeating what others have asked

Hi
As soon as they are gone from your file you stand a much better chance of being accepted for a mainstream card. Don't close down all your existing card accounts before you apply, but you could possibly close down 1 or 2.
New potential lenders don't see who your existing cards are with so won't know they are subprime (though they'd be able to guess the one with a £200 limit is).
Just a word of warning - for some reason on equifax your default and CCJ will not go from your file until 6years and about a week. So either double check they are gone before you apply, or leave it a couple of weeks or so after the 6year date before you apply.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hey Duncan78....try creation/sygma cards. I applied for a flybe card(£1000 limit) & next day (whilst a bit tipsy!) applied for their zero percent on purchases for 9 months card-accepted-2000 limit! APRS nof fab-17.9-24.9% but certainly not as bad as aqua, vanquis, etc. However check both credit files FIRST before applying to make sure all adverse has dropped off!!!0
