What to do when going round in circles writing essay?

good to hear I'm not the only one who gets in a fuddle with essays. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and if I feel that my words are not coming out succintly enough I get fustrated and stubborn. In otherwords I don't write anything!

I am learning slowly though, just to write and write and then come back to it. I then edit and write some more, with a final editing session. I end up pushing myself into it as deadlines hang over and it comes down to just getting some marks in the end!!
I also find that writing it all out helps. I had a 1500 essay on schizophrenia, and boy I had loads to write, and managed a 3000 word long essay.(with loads more that I wanted to add, but stopped myself!) I had to cut it right back though which can be painful. Still it's a learning curve!

I will certainly be jotting down all your ideas, and test my methods. I'm 1st year, so have that luxury at the mo!
