Best paint for my kitchen

Hi folks, I am a DIY novice. I want to paint my kitchen and wondered which type is the best in terms of durability? We have a dog and need to give the walls a wipe every now and then. Our kitchen is also slightly dark and so though about going for a birghter colour. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I believe that silk paint has a more "wipeable" finish than Matt, and I have seen special kitchen paints but I haven't bought one. I've had mine up for 6 months or so (without a dog) I'm not sure about the longevity.

We used this in the kitchen - http://www.wickes.co.uk/red-plastic-wallplugs/invt/214344/

Very pleased with the colour and the finish (to match a light cream kitchen, with cream tiles and wood worktop and laminate floor... Not quite as boring as it sounds :rotfl: )

I bought the colour because after the kitchen was installed I realised I like the look of the bare plaster against the kitchen, so it's the most similar colour to that I could find.

PS - as silk has a slight "sheen" to it it's more light reflective than matt paint also. But I have seen many "durable, scrubbable matt" paints for sale.

IMy landlord, a housing trust re did my Kitchen some three years ago and used Dulux Silk emulsion on the walls. This has been suprisingly durable.Iwipe the walls down about every 6 months and it stilll looks good.
