Divorce/financial settlement

hi all,

My wife and i are currently divorcing (just waiting on the decree absolute) we have agreed a financial settlement between the two of us (in May last year!) but it has not been signed/completed yet due to solicitors dragging heels.

Can we just lodge papers ourselves (the only asset is my pension) i've been advised against it by my solicitor as 'i would be open to claims of coercion/undue pressure' in the future, but i don't see why that would be? Can't i just insert a clause into the agreement guarding against this? I'm hoping to get married to my new gf soon in the new year after the absolute is granted so i'd like to get this done and dusted asap, it's amicable and i've no problem making full disclosure.

Any advice anyone?
