Card and Identity Protection

I'm keen to understand if there is any difference between card and identity theft cover. Or are they one in the same thing? All views and advice welcomed.

I think it will really come down to what the provider states they will cover.

But personally I would avoid both - I can imagine in a few years there will be mis-selling claims for these types of policies.

Currently, the banks claim that chip n pin is infallible - or would have us believe that. They then say that if someone uses your card fraudulently, you must have revealed your PIN, and so will not pay out.

So infallible is it that they need to sell insurance for such fraud that they claim cannot happen? The OFT states that a bank cannot refuse compensation on this basis, but they regularly do.

Personally, I think a bit of care and aforethought is the best policy - that's all my opinion anyway.
