Hotpoint Gas Hob

I have had a 4 burner gas hob fitted. When I use the left hand ring and open the cupboard door underneath I get a smell of gas either during or after use. Use the other burners and there is no smell at all. Fitted by a Gas Safe person and all OK when tested so seems the problem is with the hob not the fitting. Any ideas ?

Hi.
Yes , call the installer, if the problem is with the hob he/ she will pass it on to the hob manufacturer under warrenty.
Do not use it.
Done ,sorted. Piece of cake eh?

Spot on advice to be honest.
It needs to be looked at by a professional. So either get the installer back to have a look at it or call Hotpoint and get them to send someone out.
(Just bear in mind, if you ask Hotpoint to send someone, and it turns out to be a problem with the installation, you WILL be charged for the call out)If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

If you can smell gas, call Transco. This could be the difference between an evening meal and being shot into orbit.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Call National Grid NOW. 0800 111999. Sounds more like a dodgy installation from here0

All they will do is confirm whether there is a leak or not and make safe.
If the appliance is only smelling when one particular burner is being used, I'd suspect an appliance fault.
This, together with the fact that the installation has been tested by a GSR would also suggest a leak at or after the tap as it wouldn't show up on a test.
