Did you see Gareth Malone's The Choir programme on BBC Two featuring Military Wives?
It was a brilliant series, if you don't know it was about a group of military wives you came together to form a choir whilst their husbands were away fighting in Afghanistan. They performed in several locations including Sandhurst at the passing out parade before performing at The Festival of Remembrance in front of the Queen and other members of the Royal Family. The song they sang "Wherever you are" was written especially for them by Paul Mealor (he is a well known songwriter who wrote a song for The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge that was performed at their wedding earlier this year).
I'm not associated with them in any way, i'm just a big fan of theirs! They are releasing "Wherever you are" on the 19th December but it is available to pre-order from Amazon.co.uk now! It is £1.99 and you get 2 tracks, both written by Paul Mealor!
It would be fantastic to get this song to number 1 and beat the X factor single that usually wins. For all the military wives out there, not just the ones from the choir it would be a fantastic achievement and would make their christmas even more special!
It is such a moving song, really lovely words.. Paul wrote it whilst reading letters and special momentos that the wives' husbands had sent them.
Click on the link below to go to Amazon and pre-order it now!
It will still count towards the Christmas no.1 even though ordered now as they count sales from the 5th Dec! :j

But I'm already fed up with all the hype surrounding this song. Sure, the video moves me to tears as it was designed to do that. But I don't particularly like the song itself and am tiring of everybody telling me that I must buy it - listening to Chris Evans this morning it was like it was the only song ever written.
There's also a strong commercial motive behind the BBC's constant hype. I don't know where the money from sales is going (I'm assuming a worth cause) but Gareth Malone is shortly off to the USA for a Stateside series of The Choir and nothing would provide better publicity than a high profile number one single.
Military Wives, I love you all. It's the hype that is dragging me down here.
I'll make a donation to the Legion then. My father was invalided out of the Army in 1966 and they fought his case to get a war pension. Always glad to support that one.
WHilst I agree that money direct to the cause will probably do better, getting the single to No 1, will do more arcoss the wider UK public.
So Please, Please. Please buy / download this single, beat the X-factor song (nothing personal, I thought they deserved to win!!) and earn some money for Service charities!!
