Barclaycard 13 digit DSAR

Hi,

All credit cards appear to have 16 digit account numbers.

A lowell DCA letter only contains 13 digits??

Is it still possible to submit a dsar request to Barclaycard & not 16?

Barclaycards used to have 13 digit card numbers, many years ago. They went through a programme of changing them all over to 16 digit card numbers but again, that was ages ago (I was working there at there at the time).

If someone is coming after you for a debt now and they are providing a 13 digit card number, then I suspect that it would be statute barred by now (assuming this is the first contact you've had from them). I wouldn't stake my life on it, but I'm pretty sure the changes to 16 digit card numbers happened more than 6 years ago.

But to answer your question, I'm sure Barclaycard would be able to trace your 13 digit account number even now.

My mother has a Barclaycard with an expriry date of 10/98 in her collectable stash of stuffs which is 16 digits long, not 13.

Quite possibly izools. I worked at Barclaycard twice - in the mid-nineties and again in the early 00's. Couldn't remember which time they made the switch.

EDIT: Having said all that, if you look at Barclaycard's website, to register for online services it says to enter the primary cardholder's 13 or 16 digit card number, which suggests that there are still some 13 digit accounts out there. In which case I could have been a bit premature to talk about the debt being statute barred.
  • HI guys

credit cards have a card number 16 digits and a account number 13 digits!!! the card number changes every time you cancel/re-issues a card so they have account numbers that the card number is linked too!

    Hope this helps :)
