First Great Western... First Class??

in Overseas holidays & travel planning
Anyone been on it before? do you get free food AND coffee's etc.

Need to know whether to pack some food or not! If they do going to be a challenge to get through the entire buffet car in 3 hours!

    you dont usually get free food in first class...just free tea/coffee/newspaper....and biscuits if you are lucky. The food you still have to pay for.

    thanks penny, thats good knowledge. i dont travel on first normally. Virgins first class do a snack box and i have had bacon rolls and loads of things on their 1st class before. Better take some sandwiches i guess then.

    I am travelling sat so will have to go to the buffet car to collece, will be pushing for some free food hehe

    The free coffee is disgusting. They do a different sort of coffee (made from a coffee bag) which is a bit better, but you have to pay for it. As for food, you just get some biscuits with the (disgusting) coffee.

    The only good thing is on Friday afternoons and evenings, when you get unlimited free wine. And the wine is really rather good.

    i will use my charm to get a free 3 course meal, and if that fails i'll get the crowbar out!

    Sad to say, they don't have restaurant cars at the weekend.

    Pity: I once had one of their sit-down dinners, and it was excellent (better than the grand conference dinner that I had eaten the previous evening).

    they dont do the restaurant car meals on a weekend...you will be lucky to even blag a stale sarnie from the buffet car......lol
