Yes, what is needed are real jobs, but its not going to be happening in our generation, or the next I reckon. The world is changing, populations are going up, other countries like India and China are providing the low paid jobs, and countries like ours are having increasing unemployment.
The ''job'' market has to change and people are going to have to look at other ways to earn a living, such as self employment. These opportunities need to be advertised, not hidden away, including in places where people are looking for opportunities to make a living. Yes, most people in job centres are looking for jobs and will probably never be open to self employment, but if some people have their eyes opened to another way, it can only be a good thing.
As long as its made absolutely clear that its a self employed, business opportunity without a wage, I don't see a problem.

No , no problem at all - but it isn't is it? it's rubbish like **team leaders needed in your area £500 - £1000 a month** that is put online and elsewhere. And before this gem pops up NO it isn't *seeing what people want from the opportunity* it's a hook to entice people in with promises of money made easily.

As long as its made clear that its a self employed position and you are building your own income, I have no problem with that, though I personally prefer not mentioning a specific amount as its different for everyone. I would prefer to say that if you do a little you could earn a little and if you do a lot your could earn a lot and everything in between!

  • You cant put silly figures in on job centre plus.

You have to sign a declaration that they can earn minimum working wage.

When advertising these types of jobs on the job centre centre you have to declare it is a self employed vacancy. They add that " Self-employed people are responsible for paying their own National Insurance contributions and Tax. For information on how benefits are affected and whether entitlement may be lost, speak to a Jobcentre Plus Adviser."

And so they should. I wouldn't want to recruit anyone who thought it was a job.
