Audi DSG Auto clutch-any disadvantages?
Comments

Had two - one was fine, the other failed. Thankfully the £3k bill was for Audi to pay. Great when working, excellent mpg for an auto, but not something to have when out of warranty.0

If you are used to driving a conventional slushbox auto, the DGG auto boxes don't feel as smooth. But a lot better than having to change gear yourself.

As has been said, long term durability has yet to be proven and there is plenty of anecdotal evidence that suggests that they may be a liability out of warranty.0 -
Just parted with a TT which we had for 2 1/2 years. It had the DSG box. We found nothing wrong with it and it caused us no problems. In my opinion though Audi isn't a make one should drive out of warranty. The repair costs are astronomical if anything does go wrong.0

They are all fine, if under warranty.
PRND321 is the way to to be honest.

Just Google "DSG gearbox problems "
I would not hang on to a car with DSG once it got to the end of the warranty period.
Quite nice to drive though and brilliant on fuel economyYou scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I'm looking for something with a bit of pizazz and the Audi A3 fits the bill.
I appreciate they're expensive to repair - can anyone suggest an alternative with the same type of appeal? Not BMW or Mercedes0 -

I had a manual A3 and was very pleased with that. My new Audi has a DSG box and I find that much easier in traffic.
