Boiler service

Can anyone advise how much a general service for a 3 year old Vallient EcoTEC fan assisted condensing boiler should be. I also have a bathroom radiator which is failing to heat up all other radiators are fine so think it might be blocked but not sure how to fix it (we have tried bleeding it and both taps are open) I have posted a job on rated people but so far the tradesmen recommended have not got any comments against them and the quotes are quite different.

Any advice much appreciated as most of my friends seems to have annual boiler cover with Britush Gas and cannot recommend anyone local.

Comments

  • hello, I think I paid around the £65 mark for our boiler service last year, our boiler is a similar age to yours

Hi: cost will be dependent on where you are in the UK. As you don't have any personal recommendations for a RGI try the CIPHE website in conjunction with Gas Safe Register to cross reference installer qualifications.

That site means absolutely sod all in terms of gas engineers and reliability.

Ask around for a local recommended gas engineer, not a plumber.

At 3 years I would change the burner seal. So service is £60 and new seal would be £30= £90 in total

I'm confident folks can make their own judgements when they visit the CIPHE website. Keep kicking.:D

    ... try the CIPHE website
The ciphe is predominantly a wet plumbers club, and most members may not even be legal to work on gas, let alone good.
Best way to find a good rgi, is to ask friends/neighbours/colleagues for recommendations of a local chap.

Good morning: the OP has been unable to find a recommended RGI and has resorted to 'ratedpeople'. Many CIPHE members are 'legal to work on gas' and also have the plumbing skills essential to whole central heating system installation and maintenance which is lacking in too many on the Gas Safe Register.

    Keep kicking.

P.S. A bit quiet your way?
