New pre fab ready buillt houses!!!!

Has anyone heard about the new ready built prefab houses that are set to be constructed in the uk. Apparantly they are from sweden and are practically ready built and therefore quite a lot cheaper [eg. 3bed house for 60k]. Bradford will be getting some this year. There was an artical in the news paper but i missed it and someone who works in this industry has mentioned it too. I wonder what effect this will have on the housing market?

  • Wow! Yes, i think thats the type of thing. so it must be true. If it takes off i guess that will affect the property market! Might even be able to actually get on the ladder myself at those prices! Bradford is due a shipment of them this year

Don't forget you still have to buy or rent the ground you put it on, and also pay the local authority for hookup to utilities.

Theres a few variants about , including a german one i seen on discovery that had all the WALLS plaster and insualtion pre done , really was bolt together in under 3 days and thats in rotten weather and usual builder problems.
  • Ive just signed up with Barrets web site and they said they will let me know when they are planning to build [or what ever they do with flat pack houses] in bradford.halifax or keighley. I wonder if the value of properties like these will increase the same as regular bricks and mortar houses. I would be interested to know what the ground rent would be. No good being able to afford the house but not geing able to afford the ground it sits on!

  • I'd suspect you may have difficulty raising a mortgage on non-standard construction properties!
