Hi there,
I'm about to embark on a new kitchen. Any ideas which is the best and most reasonable co out there.
I also want a company that is trustworthy. I've dealt with Moben and they're pirates. I've got Kitchens Direct coming to give a quote but frankly I don't really trust them all.
Any good experiences and money saving mirth??
Thanks
Sharky

Hello
if you search kitchens/tradesman in the "in my home section" - go back about 90 days then there is loads of stuff on kitchens.
Which? say that finding your own local tradesman to fit it the best way to rather than using big firms.
However we used MFI and we are dead chuffed with the results.

Yeah I think the best way to go was to use trade stores like Wickes. Buy the take away kitchens and get a local tradesman to fit it for you. There was always a huge saving on places like moben or b&q(if you get them to fit it, this bumps up the price a lot) and there are delivery problems with the kitchens that you can't take away.0

Anybody used a company called Greater London Kitchens? any good or bad references for them would be really useful for me.
Thanks0 -
We found the cabinets from Ikea were 25% bigger than the comparable ones from mfi/b&q and this eliminated that dust trap on top of the cupboards.
Use the ideas, that they give to to findout exactly the design you want. Don't let them talk you into the expensive options that you will never use, wine rack / pull out ironing board etc!Smile it confuses people!0 -
Thank you that's really interesting.
So Moben own Kitchens Direct. How funny.

Hi
Before you install a new kitchen did you think about selling your existing one? Friends of our contacted a company called SellStuffEasy and got £6,980 for their 4 year old kiitchen. Needless to say that it went a far way helping to pay for the new one. SellStuffEasy will basically visit your house, take measurements of it all, take some digital photo's and then post it for sale on eBay. While on sale they arange viewings and after the sale they would collect the money from the buyers.

Have now purchased a kitchen from MFI who have provided a great service. The whole thing was a bargain plus they go through it with you on the computer and give you a print out picture of what your kitchen is going to look like. Although we haven't actually had the kitchen fitted yet I know that Ive made the right decision over Moben and other come to your house and bore you stupid companies.
At least with MFI you can go into the shop and talk to someone if there is a problem. With Kitchens Direct etc. you'll never hear from them and you'll never find them.
plus the quality on offer at MFI suits all pockets.
Will update when it's fitted.

We had our MFI (Schreiber) kitchen fitted almost 5 years ago and it still looks good and we're generally very pleased with it.
We got a local tradesman to install it and had both the utility and kitchen done together, just one month after we moved in and had it finished the week before Christmas.
We went around all the usual kitchen retailers but just kept on going back to FMI. The combination of the spec, quality and value seemed to exceed the competition.
I've only ever had brochures from Kitchens Direct but have seen a lot of them on Watchdog for all the wrong reaons.0 -
Have you tried https://www.contractkitchens.com they are less expensive than everywhere else but much better quality.
get everyone else to do you a plan of your kitchen then log on and order online.... worked for me
