To buy or not to buy...a freezer!

This may be a weird question, but do people think it is worth my getting a freezer?
I have not had one for about 6 months and am managing fine. I am now wondering whether to get one though as it would be useful to be able to make larger amounts of meals and freeze them (I live on my own).
I don't know whether the savings doing this would offset the cost of running a freezer however.
Like I said, a weird question but something I have been pondering!

As a single person living alone I'd definitely recommend one. Having to buy fresh veg at this time of year alone justifies one IMO, let alone the frozen meals you can bulk cook and cheap deals on frozen food offers at stores such as Iceland. if you keep it in a cool spare room they cost very little to run. You could always decommission it over the hot summer months if running costs are your concern. You could probably find one for free too on sites such as freecycle.0

We were in the same situation as you, hadn't had a freezer for a year but finally gave in and got a little Lec from our local shop. I do find it easier for getting meat in bulk and freezing. Not sure how much it is costing to run though, although it is so small I'd hope not much!Debts 2004: £6000..............................................Aug 2007: £0!!!!0

I'm on my own but find it handy for bulk cooking and also when you get the reduced price food in the supermarket you can freeze it until you need to use it. Don't know how much it costs to run but worth it for sheer convenience. (I currently have enough butter to last about 6 months as Lidl were getting rid of loads that was close to its use by date. Every little helps!) If I buy a huge bag of carrots, instead of wasting half I can make and freee a load of soup - only small things but it adds up.
Plus the everyday stuff like bread - I was throwing lots away, now I just get a few slices out when I need them and it's a lot less wasteful. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Thank you, I will have a look on freecycle and see what I can find.
I may not bother until spring now though, as going on the weather at the moment I may as well just leave things outside!0 -
Modern fridge freezers today can use on average about 250kWh of electricity a year, which even @ 10p a kWh is only £25 a year. Having picked an undercounter freezer at random off Curry's website, 148kWh a year to run, about £15 a year.0

Personal choice I guess but whilst you can live without one I think you'd find the benefits outweigh the costs personally. Second hand freezers may also be available fairly cheaply at your local auctions if you don't find one of Freecycle0
